Rumple Spread

Oops. It inverted the colors. But you know, it is Halloween weekend so I'll leave this image up. It amplifies the creepiness of a weird man popping out of nowhere. But I'll add the real version too.
And the other image is just me playing around in my sketchbook. Saw a picture and went off of it. Random.

Rumplestiltskin: Book Dummy Sketches

So they are backwards on here, but here are 5 spreads from my book dummy. I spent all my time developing these so no random illustrations for this week's posting. But I'm feeling good about my characters now and I'm excited to create my first final!

The Handmade World of Etsy

*click the image to view it larger and see all the details.

Ok, so these illustrations weren't actually for this class but I have been working on them for a really long time and it's drawing so I'm posting it here!
The concept of The Handmade World of Etsy is for an interactive brochure for Etsy.com, the online marketplace for all things handmade. I have created a world with all these fun elements where handmade and imaginative things are all a part of everyday life, like a stoplight with button lights and yarn trees and buildings made out of presents. And sewing machine houses and birds who deliver gifts to your front door. This project was really fun to work on and I took a lot of time to develop all the elements. My intention was for it to be similar to the Busy World of Richard Scary but exclusive to Etsy as a brand. Judith has the finished product but I will have to show it to you soon Dan.

dashing duo

So, lately I've been drawing from old vintage photos. I stumbled upon this great one of two men arm in arm and thought it was just too funny. So I drew this dashing duo and played with a bit of texture in photoshop. Fun stuff.

alice falls down the rabbit hole

Here's a rough from my series of illustrations for Alice In Wonderland: Chapter One (Alice Falls Down the Rabbit Hole)
I used the line and pattern to provide visual interest while also implying chaos. Thoughts?
